BSA525 Issue One: Deja'Vu

 Date: 03/03/2021

So a repeat of last year, I am back in storyboarding with a bunch of first years, and I feel slightly out of place but oh well. We started off the class with my tutor going through the basic of of blogger and blackboard, which I am already very well versed in. We went through a PowerPoint about Documentation and what exactly we need to follow for example having it in a slightly formal language. Although I already knew this I think it was definitely a good idea since last year we had a few people who had some very risky language in their blogs so it shows us a clear idea of what we are meant to do.

We also went over our proposal, which is due in three weeks in week 6, yikes. Lucky I already  have and idea already sorted out. So far I have already have planned out my story for storyboarding which I will be talking about in a later blog, but the base Idea is I will be doing a story based around my Game Series about demigods called Hunterborn. I will go in depth in detail at a later date but I am very fond of my current idea.

We also went over how we can do so called "Research" about video games and animations that we watch. So this opens up some interesting things for me as I can go in depth for my exemplars which also allows me to bulk up my blogs a bit more, plus playing some games like Skyrim is quite fun. Afterwards we went over the three act structure and went over different genres in film, animation and games, and that sparked some ideas. We then were asked to write about some of our favorite Genres so here I go.

Fantasy

  • I like the Fantasy Genre as it gives a look at a possible old or new world and how that world adapted with trials and challenges like Monsters, Magic and Wars.
Isekai
  • The Isekai Genre would probably be my favorite of most watched/read as I love the idea of being transported into another world whether its Sci-Fi or Fantasy and how their are weak of incredibly strong.
We were then tasked with writing our rough idea for our story, which I am already excited about.
The story is part of my series called Children of the Gods (Not Final) and it will be my second project in the Series, the first being Hearth-Bound which I am am focusing on in my 3rd year projects.

Hunterborn will follow the protagonist (Need to find a name for him) on a hunt for a deer in a forest. While he runs he is firing arrows at the deer before it finally dies. While he goes up to the carcass he spots a figure in the forest. He sneaks up closer and see the figure of a human, standing there swaying. He calls out to the figure and it spins round with glowing eyes as it lets out a howl and lunges for our protagonist. Although I will expand upon this for storyboarding this is my current base and it can easily lead into a game but I will increase the story to fit into the requirements for my Storyboarding class.

We then looked at Dan Harmons Story Circle which has Eight Parts.
  • 1. They are in a familiar place and/or zone of comfort
  • 2. But then they want something
  • 3. They enter an unfamiliar situation or place
  • 4. Adapt to it
  • 5. They get what they wanted
  • 6. But a heavy price is payed
  • 7. Then return to their familiar situation
  • 8.But changed whether good or bad
This gives a good overview and will help me through my story and planning it out, but thats all for now.
